The Daytona Beach Police Department is investigating a traffic incident that occurred around 5:30 p.m., Monday, where a motorcyclist – a 35-year-old Daytona Beach man who was involved in a traffic accident with a car, passed away at the scene from his injuries.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Caroline Street and U.S. 92/West International Speedway Boulevard when a white 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 24-year-old Daytona Beach woman, was heading north on Caroline. The vehicle entered the eastbound travel lanes of U.S. 92 as a black 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle entered the intersection.

The front of the Kawasaki collided with the front driver’s side of the Chevrolet, throwing the motorcyclist off the motorcycle. He landed on the road near the impact point and was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after they arrived on the scene.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene and processed as evidence. An autopsy will also determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this accident as part of this active and ongoing investigation.

Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
