The Daytona Beach Police Department has been investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, when Devyn Strickland, 23, and Kaylee Grigsbyleinum (Grigsby), 19, planned to rob Grigsbyleinum's ex-boyfriend, who lived at 201 Shady Place.

According to police, when Strickland and Grigsbyleinum arrived at 201 Shady Place, a firearm was discharged, but there were no reports of anyone with a gunshot wound. The ex-boyfriend, and victim of the robbery, reportedly stabbed Strickland in self-defense before the couple fled the scene. Strickland and Grigsbyleinum were in the area, where Strickland was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach before he succumbed to his injuries from the stab wound.

Grigsbyleinum, Strickland's current girlfriend, was taken into police custody on Monday, January 16, and charged with 2nd-degree felony murder for setting up a robbery that resulted in a death.
