BODY FUEL NUTRITION

For me it all began when I was about 14. This is when I decided to become a vegetarian. I wasn't really sure why I wanted to change the way I ate but I felt it was the right thing to do. Luckily I have supportive parents who cooked me separate meals and entertained this new notion, probably thinking it was just a teenage phase. But it wasn't. Here I am 17 years later, still focusing a large portion of my life around

plant based eating, making healthy choices for my body and helping others make healthy choices for theirs. This choice I made at 14 has impacted not only my life for the better, but the lives of many others.

I grew up in a small town in B.C. where I spent the majority of my free time in dance classes, training my body to become the best dancer I could be. This hyper-awareness of my body helped guide me towards the career path I would eventually choose. For the first 7 years post-high school I worked on my craft as a dancer, struggling to "make it", never feeling truly aligned with what my true purpose is here on earth. I did a lot of soul searching and trying different ideas out until I hit upon one that spoke to me. Nutrition.

I spent the next two years studying Holistic Nutrition with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and graduated in 2014 with the distinction of Merit and the title of Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant. When I graduated I started working with clients in general nutrition, not really feeling connected to any certain form of nutrition education. I started feeling lost again.

This was around the time my husband and I started trying for a baby. I figured it would happen right away as we are both very healthy and active people. But when it didn't I started to doubt who I was, what my purpose was and my whole world started to crumble apart. Becoming a mom was the single most important thing I wanted to do with my life and I couldn't make it happen. This became a dark part of my life. I felt like a failure. I was embarrassed, I was angry and I was sad.

It took about 18 months of searching for answers, doing tests and spending money to find out that we had unexplained infertility. For someone who needs to always know the answers this was hard. I eventually realized that I had to let go a bit. If we couldn't make it happen on our own we would try I.U.I. I decided then that I needed to not focus my entire life on getting pregnant, that I needed to relax as much as I could and that I needed to search inside of myself rather than looking for the answers everywhere else.

My husband and I gave ourselves a few months to stop focusing on conceiving and decided to just get my body and spirit in its best shape possible. I reached out to an amazing Chinese Medicine Doctor who helped me understand that my body did not have enough energy in it to create a baby. We worked together for two months. As soon as our last treatments finished I got pregnant. It had taken almost two years.

Although I now had a beautiful baby girl I still couldn't figure out where to focus my energy in my career. I was still struggling and trying to "find myself" and what area I could help people the most in. I knew that I wanted my career to eventually lead me to be able to work from home and be focused in nutrition but I still didn't know what area that was.

My first year of being a mom was the hardest one of my life. I was dealing with birth trauma from my daughter's birth, my father's cancer diagnosis, balancing work life and home life, and the disappearance of my beloved dog when she went missing for over two months when we were on vacation. I suffered from adrenal fatigue and post-traumatic stress.

Through that year I learned how strong I truly am. Through all of my experiences I finally realized that my true calling is to help other women who are struggling to conceive be able to have the best possible chance of conceiving that they can. By cleaning up their body. By removing toxic emotions. By working on the soul level. By getting to the deep core of what's really going on. And through this process helping them become strong, powerful women and find their own purpose in life and become amazing, vibrant, happy and healthy mothers who will raise fierce little humans.

Luckily for me I have found a few angels to help me along the way, one being my mentor the incredible medium

Els Basten, who I have had the opportunity to train with and will continue to train with in the future to continually open up my intuition to help guide me in helping the amazing women I get to meet and work with.

I finally know I am on the right path. I let my intuition guide me on a regular basis. Having clients get pregnant while working with me and have major shifts in their lives that help change them and push them towards growth fulfills me and continues to guide me on my own path. And being able to conceive a second child on our first try shows me just how far I have come in my own growth and health.

While I love what I do, I still spend some time instructing dance to stay connected to my creativity. I do yoga to stay connected to my body, and I try to take the time each day to practice some sort of self-care to always stay connected to my soul.

If you are struggling, I hope you are able to find the person that can help guide you on your journey, whether or not that person is me. We can't do everything alone, even though us women try. You need someone to guide you in ways that you cannot guide yourself.

I send to you so much love and light, xo      Mellisa
