In preparation for the anticipated traffic congestion during Biketoberfest, Votran, the public transportation system serving Volusia County, has announced a series of route detours. These detours will be in effect from 10 a.m. on Friday, October 20, until the end of services on Sunday, October 22.

Daytime Routes (5 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

For daytime routes, which operate from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., several changes will impact passengers:

  • Routes 1, 8, 18, and 19: Buses cannot use the Intermodal Transfer Facility (ITF), and passengers should use Halifax and Ora streets to board Route 8. Routes 1, 18, and 19 will also not pass near the ITF while on detour.
  • Route 1: Outbound buses will turn left on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, then right on U.S. 1, right on Mason Avenue, and left on State Road A1A to continue on their regular route. There will be no service to the ITF. Inbound, the route will not serve the ITF and instead will follow a modified path from State Road A1A to the Transfer Plaza.
  • Route 8: Both inbound and outbound buses will bypass the ITF and remain on Halifax Avenue.
  • Route 11A/B: For outbound (11A/B) journeys, buses will turn left on Palmetto Avenue, then left on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, right on U.S. 1, right on Fairview Avenue, and left on Beach Street to continue their regular route. Passengers traveling on Route 11A west of Williamson Boulevard should use Route 60. Inbound (11A/B) routes will follow a modified path as well.
  • Route 17A/B: Outbound buses will turn right on Palmetto Avenue, then left on Orange Avenue, and right on State Road A1A. Inbound buses will use a different route to access the Transfer Plaza.
  • Route 18: Inbound, buses will detour from State Road A1A to follow Seabreeze Boulevard, U.S. 1, and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard to the Transfer Plaza.
  • Route 19: Outbound buses will take a modified route via Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, U.S. 1, Mason Avenue, Halifax Avenue, University Avenue, and State Road A1A. There will be no service to the ITF.

Night (7 p.m. to midnight) and Sunday Service (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) Routes

For night and Sunday services, operating from 7 p.m. to midnight and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., buses will begin and end at the Transfer Plaza and will not enter the ITF.

  • Route 1: Outbound buses will follow a modified path and not enter the ITF. Inbound buses will skip the ITF and conclude their route at Vining Court and Granada Boulevard. Passengers can make connections with Route 3 at the Transfer Plaza.
  • Route 3: Outbound and inbound routes will be reversed during this period.
  • Route 4: Outbound and inbound routes will be reversed during this period.
  • Route 10N: Outbound and inbound routes will be reversed during this period.
  • Route 10S: Outbound buses will stay on International Speedway Boulevard and not provide service to the Daytona Beach Flea Market or Thames Road. Inbound buses will continue to the Transfer Plaza from Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard.
  • Route 11N: For outbound journeys, buses will turn left on Palmetto Avenue, left on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, right on U.S. 1, right on Fairview, and left on Beach Street to continue the regular route. Inbound routes will be modified accordingly.
  • Route 15: Outbound buses will follow a modified path. Inbound buses will take an alternate route to reach the Transfer Plaza.
  • Route 17: Outbound buses will turn right on Palmetto Avenue, left on Orange Avenue, and right on State Road A1A. Inbound buses will follow a different route to the Transfer Plaza, ending at Raymond Avenue and South Atlantic Avenue, with no service over Dunlawton Bridge.

Additional detours may also be implemented to address evolving traffic conditions as needed throughout the weekend. Votran encourages riders to plan their trips accordingly and stay updated with the latest information by visiting the official website at www.votran.org.
