Officials from the city of Daytona Beach are offering tips to residents on best practices in disposing of live Christmas trees as we near the end of the Holiday season.

Smaller trees will be able to be picked up on a regularly scheduled Yard Waste Day. Larger trees will need to be reported to Waste Pro. This schedules a pickup with their claw truck will come through to pick them up within 48-72 hours.

Trees can be picked up from the curb on Saturday, Jan. 2, or the following regular waste day, Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Residents are cautioned to remove all decorations from their trees. If decorations are not removed, the tree cannot be mulched. If the tree cannot be mulched residents might be charged an exempt waste fee. All trees clean of contaminants will be mulched at the Volusia County Landfill.

If you have any questions, please contact the city’s Solid Waste Department at (386) 671-8670.
