Suspect arrested in homicide on Orange Avenue in Daytona Beach.

In a tragic incident, officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department responded to a weapons complaint near 955 Orange Avenue in Daytona Beach just after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a vehicle that crashed at the northwest corner of Orange Avenue and Caroline Street with an occupant who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as Jaron Smith, 33, was promptly rushed to Halifax Medical Center, where Smith tragically succumbed to his injuries, and next of kin was notified.

Following an investigation, Robert Blue, was identified as the alleged perpetrator and was successfully apprehended on a warrant earlier today. Blue faces second-degree murder charges, and an investigation is ongoing.
