On Friday, August 6, the City of Daytona Beach will be raising the Purple Heart Flag in honor of National Purple Heart Day, complete with a special dedication presented by Mayor Derrick Henry to all Purple Heart recipients.

The raising ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the steps of Daytona Beach City Hall on S. Ridgewood Avenue. The raising of the Purple Heart Flag is the oldest military award that honors the sacrifices of the men and women who have been wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. military.

The Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 316, and Marine Corps League Daytona, have organized the ceremony.
