In a momentous achievement, Volusia County Beach Safety has been crowned the 2023 Beach Patrol of the Year by the esteemed Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association, highlighting the agency's exceptional dedication and outstanding efforts throughout the year.

The Florida Beach Patrol Chief's Association bestowed this prestigious award upon Volusia County Beach Safety, recognizing the agency's unwavering commitment to excellence in beach safety and lifeguard services while showcasing leading examples of professionalism and dedication in their field.

During the 2023 season, Volusia County Beach Safety showcased an unwavering commitment to beach safety, completing an impressive 2,512 water rescues and executing 35,811 preventive actions. Responding to 1,162 medical emergencies and addressing 41,272 calls for service, the agency demonstrated unparalleled proficiency and responsiveness.

The accolades didn't stop there; Volusia County Beach Safety's competition team made waves in various contests. The team secured a remarkable third place overall in the USLA Southeast Regional Lifeguard Competition in Delray Beach and an eighth-place finish in the fiercely competitive USLA National Lifeguard Championships held in Virginia Beach. The agency also left its mark at the International Surf Rescue Challenge on South Padre Island, Texas. Among the eight female competitors representing the United States in the open division team, two began their illustrious careers with Volusia County Beach Safety.

Moreover, three of the eight under-19 team competitors currently contribute their skills to the agency. The open team claimed an impressive third place overall, while the under-19 team secured a commendable second-place finish.

This accolade solidifies Volusia County Beach Safety's position as a leader in safeguarding beachgoers and upholding the highest standards of lifeguard services.
