Daytona Beach Fire Department Announces Promotions

Deputy City Manager and Fire Chief Dru Driscoll recently announced the promotions of four of Daytona Beach Fire Department’s valued members.

Jessica Matthews

Promoted to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief where she’s charged with managing all administrative aspects of the Fire Department. A consistent and proven role model of selfless character and
knowledge, Matthews offers a fresh perspective as the department evolves to meet the community’s needs.

Andre Chaney

A 23-year veteran of the department, was promoted from Lieutenant to Battalion Chief. In his new role, Chaney will serve in administration under the command of Deputy Chief
Matthews. Known as a confident leader by his coworkers, Chaney will take on his new assignment as a member of the department’s command staff with the same determination he has
demonstrated throughout his career.

Tory Sherrier

Promoted from Driver/Engineer to Lieutenant. Always known for his willing attitude, Sherrier, in his new role, will be granted the ability to further his positive impact on the department
through the development of his crew and others in his charge.

Susan Ford

Promoted from Firefighter to Driver/Engineer as she continues her career in Daytona Beach. Ford is highly regarded for her positive demeanor and willingness to roll-up her sleeves.

Daytona Beach’s Fire Department, with an annual budget of $19 million, has 122 budgeted positions with 113 sworn personnel. Daytona Beach Fire is the busiest agency in Volusia County with
more than 23,000 calls for service each year. In addition to providing fire protection and advanced life support services, the department also provides fire prevention inspections, public education and specialty services such as a Drug Abuse Response Team, Community Paramedicine, Technical Rescue Team, Drone Aviation Unit and the world-famous MotorMedics.
