Husband kills wife and shoots himself during argument in Daytona Beach.

A tragic incident unfolded in Daytona Beach Wednesday evening when the Daytona Beach Police Department responded to the scene of a shooting off Fulton Street, at approximately 6:37 p.m. When officers arrived, a male, identified as Shantell Adkins, 35, was lying in the yard and a female, Shawntai Adkins, 34, was lying near the front door of the home, both with apparent gunshot wounds.

According to a release, Shantell and Shawntai Adkins were in a verbal dispute that escalated, prompting Shawntai to call her parents, who rushed to the residence to assist their daughter. At some point, Shantell Adkins armed himself with a rifle and fired at his wife, Shawntai, before turning the weapon on himself, causing a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Regrettably, despite the swift response from emergency services, Shawntai Adkins succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Shantell Adkins was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment. The investigation into this incident is still active and ongoing.

Shantell Adkins has been charged with 1st Degree Murder. He remains in the hospital in stable condition.
