According to an update from the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County, vaccinations will begin to be distributed to people in the county that are 65 years old and older.

Starting Monday, January 4, the Health Department in Volusia County in conjunction with the City of Daytona Beach, will be opening its first vaccination clinic. It will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 4 and 5, at the Daytona Stadium off of LPGA in Daytona Beach.

The vaccination clinic will offer a drive-through vaccination.

Vaccine supply is limited and will be offered on a first come first serve basis. There is no cost for the vaccinations offered by the Health Department, but Photo IDs will be required.

Only the Moderna vaccines will be given at this time.

According to the update by the Department of Health, before taking a vaccination, individuals will receive the Moderna Fact Sheet, the Emergency Use Authorization, and information on what to expect during and after the injection. Individuals also will be required to complete a medical screening form and sign an informed consent form before receiving a vaccination. Individuals are encouraged to contact their primary care provider with questions about whether they should receive the vaccine before arriving at a vaccination site.

After receiving a vaccination, recipients will be expected to remain on-site for 15-30 minutes for medical monitoring.

A second dose reminder card will be distributed to those who receive the vaccination. The card will also list the date and manufacturer for the first vaccine. The following dose should be received 28 days after the initial vaccine and must be from the same manufacturer.

The Health Department will return to the clinic location in 28 days to offer the second dose to those who are due. Future vaccination dates in several locations across the county will be based on vaccine availability.
